The app facilitates automatic data sync across devices linked to the same Apple ID. Data input during fieldwork on an iPhone seamlessly updates connected iPads and Macs, including models with Apple silicon. Offline data entry is supported, with synchronization occurring once an internet connection is reestablished. Colony management features include options to split or combine colonies, with provisions for tracking colonies that have perished; archived colonies retain their associated equipment records but are marked as inactive and can be reassigned.

Bee² offers advanced inventory control, enabling precise tracking of equipment usage across multiple hives and apiaries. Consumables such as sugar syrup or mite treatments are monitored over time, linked to specific colonies for accurate usage records and stock assessments. The app also facilitates recording honey yields, sales, and costs related to products and equipment management.

Existing BeePlus users can benefit from simplified data migration; by exporting a transfer file from BeePlus and importing it into Bee², they can automatically populate locations, hives, and swarm traps—though inspection data remains incompatible at this stage.

The developers express confidence in Bee²’s capabilities, offering a three-month free trial period. Post-trial, a subscription is required to create new records; however, full access to existing data is preserved even upon cancellation.
